Jennifer Horn, PhD of Beacon Psychology of Carmel, Indiana
Jennifer Horn
PhD, HSPP

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I work exclusively with children/adolescents and their families to help youth reach their fullest potential. My clinical (child) psychology doctorate is from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and I have been providing comprehensive evaluations and treatment in Indiana for over 35 years. I find great enjoyment in helping children/teens that are facing a variety of learning, behavioral, emotional, and social issues. My areas of specialty include Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Anxiety/Mood Disorders, Learning difficulties, Neurodevelopmental issues, and Developmental Disorders (e.g., cognitive disabilities).

I AM ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING ONLY.  My practice is limited to providing testing in order to define diagnostic issues and make recommendations regarding interventions and treatment. I also work closely and cooperatively with community service providers such as schools, physicians/medical providers, and other professionals during the testing process and afterwards. On a very limited basis, I also provide supportive treatment progress monitoring to children and their families.

I am no longer accepting new patients for therapy. Previous patients can be seen on a time-limited basis, and I provide guidance to the families on seeking a therapist for ongoing therapy.

Emily Duhn
M.A., Ed.S., NCSP

I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) who views children and adolescents as whole people, not just test scores. I believe a person’s differences do not need to cause major limitations to their lives. Differently abled does not have to be a disability. One of my special interests is teaching students how to cope and work around their differences by utilizing technology.  Another special interest is teaching parents and students strategies to help cope with differences. A parent is their child’s best advocate!

After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology from IUPUI (Purdue School of Science) in 2001, I earned my graduate degrees (M.A., and Ed.S.) in School Psychology from Ball State University. I also have a Director in Exceptional Needs Licensure from Indiana University, an Independent Practice Endorsement (IPE) through the Indiana Association of School Psychologists (IASP) and a Certificate in Autism from The Zur Institute. Since 2005, I have worked within the public school systems. This experience allows me to help families navigate school processes related to IEPs and 504 plans. Since 2018, I have been with Beacon Psychology Services in a part time capacity. Starting in 2019, I have also provided evaluation services in residential, charter and private schools.

One of my roles at Beacon is identifying learning strengths and needs by conducting evaluations. During these evaluations, I strive to make the situation relaxed and comfortable while still obtaining valuable information about how the child learns. I have extensive experience with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and learning disabilities. I have a particular interest in helping families adapt to the social and emotional needs of young children.

My best teachers have been the families I have served, as well as my own children. Each child is unique and might need something different than expected. My goal for working with families is to help families learn about a child’s unique strengths and differences.  When working with me, we will work together and use evaluation information to find strategies for helping your family.
